He earned his degree in Statistics from the same university and completed his PhD in Statistics and Operational Research at the University of Granada, Spain. He pursued postdoctoral studies in Data Science for Business and Industry at McMaster University, Canada. Dr. Leiva is an internationally renowned researcher, a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Chilean Journal of Statistics and as an editor for several prestigious international journals. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, big data, data science, machine learning, non-Gaussian distributions, multivariate analysis, operational research, quality control, and statistical modeling. Dr. Leiva's research has been continuously funded by the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) of the Chilean government through Fondecyt projects, consistently earning outstanding ratings for 21 consecutive years. He has authored approximately 300 scientific articles, and his contributions have been recognized with numerous honors and awards.
