I am a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya , with over 15 years of experience in agriculture, ecology, and environmental sustainability research across Africa. My research focuses on agroforestry, forest ecology, and climate change mitigation, with particular emphasis on quantifying biomass, carbon stocks, and ecosystem services in tropical landscapes. I am passionate about advancing sustainable agriculture, agroecological practices, and climate solutions that improve both the environmental health and community livelihoods. I have contributed to landmark studies, including widely cited meta-analyses showing how agroforestry enhances ecosystem services and empirical studies on carbon stocks and biomass monitoring in smallholder systems across Africa. My research bridges science and practice by generating evidence to support conservation, resilience, and sustainable development in Africa. I serve on the Academic Committee of the Council for Pan-African Christian University and as an Associate Editor for CABI Agriculture and Bioscience. At JKUAT, I have held leadership roles, including Director of Research and Innovation and Chair of the Department of Botany where I contributed to strengthening institutional research capacity and academic programs. Currently, I lead three European Union–funded research projects at JKUAT (UPSCALE, IMPACT-HE, and SERA) and have previously managed large, multidisciplinary research initiatives. My expertise combines scientific excellence with strategic leadership, with strengths in project management, capacity building, and collaborative research. I am also experienced in fundraising, partnership development, and translating scientific evidence into policy and practice.
