简介

Prof. Zoran Petrović obtained his B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees at the Faculty of Electrical engineering, University of Belgrade and his Ph.D thesis at the Australian National University, Canberra (1985). He has been research professor at the Institute of Physics and a part time professor at Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Physics, University of Belgrade as well as a visiting professor at Keio University, Japan. He is still, apparently, director of COE Center for non-equilibrium processes accredited by the Serbian Ministry of education, science and technological development. After retirement he took a part time position at The University of Ulster in Northern Ireland as a Professor and Professor Emeritus of Plasma Physics. During his career he has been a visitor/fellow/associate/postdoctoral fellow at University of Colorado at Boulder, KEIO Universiity Japan, Australian National University and spent shorter sabbaticals at University Joseph Fourier Grenoble and Ecole polytechnique Paris France, Ulster University Belfast UK, Ruhr University Bochum and many more. Zoran Petrović is a member of Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences and secretary of Department for Applied (Engineering) sciences. He has been the vice president of the National council for science and technology of Serbia, Chairman of the Committee for promotions and Chairman of the Committee for physics of the Ministry of Science of Serbia, and has been the president of the Association of scientific institutes for 15 years. He was a member of the panel on physics of Eureopean Research Council twice (2012, 2014 and 2016). He has won Marko Jaric award for the scientific achievements in physics and Nikola Tesla award for technological advancement. He also received a major award for contribution to science in the Institute of Physics Belgrade for the 50th anniversary of the Institute. He has won three times the annual award of the Institute of Physics University of Belgrade. Zoran Petrović is a fellow and Outstanding Referee of American Physical Society APS (both are lifetime awards). Prof. Petrović won an award for the most cited paper in Plasma Sources Science and Technology (IOP Journal) for a 10 year period 1999-2009 and an award of Jpn. J. for Appl. Phys. for the most cited paper on plasma processing in 2015. Dr. Petrović has published so far 288 articles in international scientific journals around 100 invited lectures and a book (together with T Makabe-two editions). He has been cited more than 10170 times (H index 52 - Google scholar). Zoran Petrović supervised 20 Ph. D and 17 Masters theses. He is a member of editorial boards of the IOP journal Plasma sources science and technology PSST (until the end of 2016), EPJD and EPJTI. The main scientific interests: -Atomic and molecular physics in ionized gases (excitation, anomalous Doppler broadening, collisions, electron scattering cross sections, Penning ionization, excitation transfer, surface neutralization and reflection, excitation by fast neutrals, ...) -Atomic and molecular physics in ionized gases and Kinetic theory (swarms of charged particles, swarm analysis of kinetic phenomena, solutions to the Boltzmann equation, Monte Carlo simulations of transport phenomena, kinetic phenomena, non-equilibrium physics and applications, excitation by fast neutrals, ...) -Physics of plasmas and ionized gases- gas breakdown and glow discharges (gas breakdown DC and RF, revision of Townsend's theroy, Steady state Townsend transport and experiments, pulsed breakdown, afterglow, runaway phenomena, secondary production of electrons on surfaces, charging of surfaces, high E/N discharges, breakdown and discharges in liquids, micro discharges, afterglow, statistical processes in breakdown,...) -Physics of plasmas and ionized gases- RF plasmas, sources, modeling and diagnostics (RF plasma sources capacitively and inductively coupled, fluid and hybrid and Monte Carlo models of plasmas, atmospheric pressure non-equilibrium plasma sources, Plasma bullets, voltage current probes, Mass analysis at low and atmospheric pressure, Proton transfer mass spectrometry, Optical emission spectroscopy, Laser absorpption spectroscopy, ...) -Physics of plasmas and ionized gases- applications (Plasma etching for integrated circuits- microchips: nanoelectronics, charging of dielectrics during etching, two frequency functional separation, Plasma medicine: stem cell functional separation, enzymes and oxidative stress in cells, toxicity of plasma treatment, plasma sterilization,; Plasmas in agriculture and food industry; Plasma treatment of materials: textiles, polymers, organic materials, cleaning of metals and glass, ashing , ...) -Atomic and molecular physics: antimatter (positrons in gases, Penning Malmberg Surko traps- modeling, control and thermalization, rotating wall traps, positronium formation and thermalization, positrons in liquids and in living tissue, positron molecule scattering cross sections, ...)
