Professor Yu Qiao is the lead scientist at Shanghai AI Laboratory, a researcher, and the honored director of the Multimedia Laboratory at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT). He was an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo from 2009 to 2010. Professor Yu Qiao has been working on deep learning since 2006, and he is one of the earliest people to introduce deep learning to video understanding. He and his team invented center loss and temporal segment networks. His research interests include deep learning on computer vision, video understanding and generation, and multimodal large models. He has published over 600 articles in top-tier conferences and journals and conferences in computer science with more than 90,000 citations, H-Index 132. His team won the AAAI 2021 Distinguished Paper Award, the CVPR 2023 Best Paper Award and the ACL 2024 Outstanding Paper Award. He received the Wangxuan Distinguished Youth Prize, the First Prize of the Guangdong Technological Invention Award, and the Jiaxi Lv Young Researcher Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is listed as Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers 2024 (1 in 1,000 worldwide) , and World's Top 2% Scientists of 2020, 2021,2022,2023 and 2024. He received an Honorable Mention in Computer Vision for the AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Award in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
