Dr. Yogesh K. Dwivedi is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Information Systems & Operations Management (ISOM) and an affiliated member of the IRC for Finance and Digital Economy (IRC-FDE) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He also holds an Honorary Professorship at the School of Management, Swansea University, UK. Previously, he held a Personal Chair and full Professorship in Digital Marketing and Innovation at the School of Management, Swansea University, UK, and served as an Honorary Distinguished Research Professor at SIBM Pune, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), India. During his 18-year tenure at Swansea University, Professor Dwivedi held key leadership roles, including PGR Director, Head of Department, Research Director, and University Dean of REF Environment. He has supervised over 25 Ph.D. students to completion and have examined more than 100 doctoral theses both within and outside UK. He holds a Ph.D. from Brunel University of London and a Doctor Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate) from "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, Romania. Professor Dwivedi holds certifications at the PRINCE2 Practitioner level and ITIL Foundation level, demonstrating his expertise in project management and IT service management.
Professor Dwivedi’s research interests lie at the intersection of Information Systems, Marketing, and Operations Management, focusing on the adoption and diffusion of emerging digital technologies and innovations, including generative artificial intelligence, digital government, and digital and social media marketing, within organizations and society, particularly in the context of emerging markets. Professor Dwivedi has published over 700 widely cited articles and is listed among Highly Cited Researchers for 2020, 2021, and 2022 by Clarivate Analytics and is ranked 3rd in the UK and 17th globally by Research.com in the business management field.
Professor Dwivedi has received several awards including Computer Educator of the Year Award-2021 by International Association for Computer Information Systems, Brunel University of London’s 2019 Alumnus of the Year Award, the UK Academy for Information Systems (UKAIS) Fellowship in 2022 and was included as one of the five finalists for “2017 Outstanding Research Supervisor of the Year” Award as part of the annual Times Higher Education Awards. Professor Dwivedi has organized tracks (AMCIS 2018–2019 and ECIS 2008–2012), minitracks (AMCIS 2007–2019), and panels in leading IS conferences. He has also acted as a conference and/or program co-chair for well-known international conferences and has chaired the IFIP 8.6 and IFIP 6.11 groups in the last five years.
