Yen Wei

Dr. Yen Wei is Chair Professor of Chemistry at Tsinghua University in China and Director of the Tsinghua Center for Frontier Polymer Research. He received his undergraduate diploma (1979) and MS (1981) at Peking Univ., and PhD at City Univ. of New York (1986). After postdoctoral work at MIT, he joined Drexel Univ. in 1987 as Assistant Professor, where he became DuPont Associate Professor in 1991, Full Professor in 1995 and Herman B. Wagner Professor of Chemistry in 2004. He has co-authored 950 scientific articles (> 29000 SCI citations; H-index: 87) and 2 books, and held 54 issued or pending patents. He joined Tsinghua Univ. in November 2009 as “Thousand-Talents Program” Chair Professor. He was named the Chief Scientist of a National Bio-Energy Project of the 973 Programs by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology in 2011, appointed as an Honorary Dean at the Beijing Institute of Graphical Communications in 2012, and honored as “Tian-Jiao Ying Cai” (“Genghis Khan Scholar”) in Inner Mongolia and “Tai-Shan Xue Zhe” (“Mountain Tai Scholar”) in Shandong in 2015. His current research is focused on polymers and nano-materials for biomedicine, energy and multi-dimensional printing technologies. He was listed as a highest cited scientist in the world in 2014, 2015 and 2016 by Elsevier/Scopus or Thomson Reuters. In 2016, Dr. Wei was appointed as Visiting Professor of Bio-Engineering at Temple University.
