Yan Liu

I am a Quantitative Human Geographer and Spatial Data Scientist, specialising in urban studies, GIS, spatial (big) data analytics and complex systems modelling. My research is centred around three key themes, with the collective goal of empowering society through spatial data analytics: 1). Complex urban systems modelling and geo-simulation incorporating cellular automata (CA) and agent based modelling (ABM) to describe, understand, model and predict urban and human change processes and interactions; 2). Spatially integrated urban and societal studies incorporating spatial data mining and big data analytics to enhance our understanding on a range of urban issues and challenges; and 3). Spatial skills education in undergraduate and postgraduate studies through GIS and other spatial technologies.
