Professor emeritus since 2023-01-01 at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, previously head of an integrated research group at unit of cardiovascular and nutritional epidemiology at Department of Environmental Medicine ( IMM ) and Department of Cardiology at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm. The research interests regard atherosclerosis, biomarkers, genetics, inflammation and prevention / treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Supervisor for 36 PhD students, 12 main supervisor and 24 co-supervisor. Published about 540 international peer reviewed international articles ( see PubMed ). About 64 500 citations and a H-index of 106 ( 2023 ). Received the Andersson Prize at Karolinska Institutet in 2007 for outstanding achievements in epidemiology. Editor-in Chief for Journal of Internal Medicine ( JIM ) 2006-2021, past Editor-in-Chief and Senior Advisor 2022. Invited member of many research committees for evaluation of research, initiator of several large scale epidemiological studies in Stockholm and Sweden as studies of young post MI patients and controls ( <45 years ), Stockholm Heart Epidemiology Programme ( SHEEP ), 60 year old men and women ( a long-term cohort study ), the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioimage Study ( SCAPIS )
