Tadeusz Robak, MD, PhD, is Professor of Hematology at the Medical University of Lodz and Head of the Department of General Hematology at Copernicus Memorial Hospital in Lodz, Poland. He is the former president of the Polish Society of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine and a member of the iwCLL, European Society of Haematology and American Society of Hematology.. Prof Robak is the (co-)author of more than 750 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals. His research activities are focused mainly on chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), hairy cell leukemia (HCL) and lymphoma, particularly on new protocols with purine analogues and targeted drugs. He participated in the pivotal clinical studies that influenced therapeutic standards in these diseases. Professor Robak was principal investigator in Polish multi-centre phase-3 trials, the results of which contributed to the current use of cladribine in CLL and HCL. He was principal investigator in REACH and COMPLEMENT2 trials, key for the introduction of immunochemotherapy in relapsed/refractory CLL and in LYM 3002 study on the use of bortezomib in the first line of mantle cell lymphoma therapy. He presented the results of his clinical research at the ASH, EHA and EBMT meetings. He is one of the authors of the IWCLL and ESMO guidelines for CLL and ESMO guidelines for HCL.
