Steve Schwartz began his college life thinking that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Unfortunately his academic drive did not quite reach the bar for that goal, and he instead considered a potential career addressing health issues as a bench scientist. After working in an academic pharmacology laboratory in which his main task was to remove the hearts of fetal chicks so that different cardiovascular drugs could be tested on them, he decided to search for options that did not involving innocent pre-natal chicks.
