Seza Özen

Dr. Seza Ozen is the Presdient of PReS (Pediatric Rheumatology European Society) and a Professor and head of the Department of Pediatric Rheumatology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. Her research focuses on autoinflammation, Behҫet’s disease and vasculitis. Dr. Ozen graduated with her medical degree from Hacettepe University in 1982. She thereafter completed a residency in the University’s Department of Pediatrics and a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center in California. Since 1992, Dr. Ozen has served in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine as an Assistant, Associate, and now full Professor. One of her main research interests is vasculitis. She has pioneered the classification work in childhood vasculitides and international clinical collaborations. She has been a member of the European committee that published recommendations for childhood vasculitides. Currently her group is involved in omics works in vasculitis. Dr Ozen is a member of the “European Academy of Sciences and Arts” and the “Turkish Science Academy”. Dr. Ozen is the past-President of the International Society of Autoinflammatory Diseases (ISSAID), Counselor for the Pediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisation (PRINTO), Executive Committee member of “FOREUM (Funding Research in Rheumatology)”, the Pediatric representative in the International Society of Behçet Disease Society (Behçet’s Disease in Pediatric Age group convener), and an Honorary Member of both the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS) and a Steering Committee Member of the Eurofever Project. Editorial Board member for 5 journals including Pediatric Research (Section Editor for Rheumatology) Chapters in Textbooks (total 15) including Textbook Pediatric Rheumatology (6 Editions, 1995 to 2021), Oxford Textbook of Rheumatology 2004 and 2022 and Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics 2016 and 2021 Dr Seza Özen has authored/coauthored over 600 papers with an h factor of with over 25000 citations as of October 2023 and her h index is 90 (Scopus)
