S. M. Ashraf

Salman got his BS in Biochemistry from Iowa State University in 1988 and then an MS from the same university in 1991, and finally a doctorate from North Carolina State University in 1999. He has worked in biotech companies in North America for over 6 years and has been at UAE University since 2003, when he joined the department of Chemistry in the College of Science as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor in September 2008, and finally to full Professor in September 2014. His current research interests are in the areas of environmental remediation, applied biotechnology, and effective pedagogy. He has strong research interests in exploiting novel bacterial isolates as well as peroxidase enzymes for environmental remediation. He has over 80 publications and holds 4 US patents. He was the recipient of College of Science Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015 as well as UAEU Faculty Excellence Award in 2017.
