Professor Rose Amal is a UNSW Scientia Professor, Co-Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Global Hydrogen Economy (GlobH2E), former ARC Laureate fellow and also Director of the Particle and Catalysis Research Group in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney. She is widely recognized as a pioneer and leading authority in the fields of fine particle technology, photocatalysis, and functional nanomaterials having made significant contributions to these related areas of research over the past 30 years. Her research contributions span from fundamental chemistry (evidenced from publications in Journal of American Chemical Society, Chem.Comm) to applied chemical engineering fields (Chemical Engineering Science, Applied Catalysis A, B); from material science and nano-research (Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Small) to a specialised photochemistry field (J. Photochemistry and Photobiology A). Her current research focuses on designing nanomaterials for solar and chemical energy conversion applications (including photocatalysis for water and air purification, water splitting, power-to-X (X = chemical and fuel such as Hydrogen, Ammonia, methanol), low temperature catalytic reactions) and reactor system design. She also serves as Co-Editor in Chief for Applied Catalysis B: Energy and Environment.
