简介

Dr. Roosevelt García-Villacorta develops technology and applied research to accelerate conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the growth of the Amazonian bioeconomy through spatial intelligence, environmental monitoring, and artificial intelligence. He currently leads the development of Terralyr, a platform that integrates geospatial data, satellite monitoring, environmental analysis, and artificial intelligence to support decision-making in restoration, biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management, environmental compliance, and responsible supply chains. Previously, he led ecological restoration initiatives in landscapes degraded by gold mining in Madre de Dios (Peruvian Amazon), with an emphasis on restoring soil functionality, using native legumes, and designing differentiated strategies for floodplains, upland forests, and the Amazonian foothills. His experience includes the design and implementation of environmental assessments, ecological monitoring, and land-use planning, as well as the development of strategies for creating local bioeconomies based on natural products and sustainable biodiversity management. He has contributed to the establishment of new protected areas and other conservation strategies in Indigenous territories within the Pastaza, Yavarí, Lower Napo (Maijuna-Kichwa), and Yaguas-Cotuhé river basins. He also has extensive experience in environmental impact assessments of large-scale infrastructure projects in the Peruvian Amazon, including roads, national electricity transmission systems, waterways, and hydroelectric plants. His research interests focus on landscape-scale forest restoration, spatial intelligence for environmental decision-making, the Amazonian bioeconomy, ecological monitoring using advanced technologies, and the development of artificial intelligence-based solutions for conservation and sustainable development. He holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Edinburgh (UK) and a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (USA).
