I work as an Attending Specialist at the Servicio de Aislamiento, Hospital Nacional de Niños de Costa Rica, the only national tertiary referral pediatric teaching hospital in the country. Predominantly I do clinical care in hospitalized children, clinical & epidemiological research. My main current research interests are: Vaccine preventable diseases, RSV & other respiratory viruses, Kawasaki disease, invasive infections, networking & global health. I coordinate REKAMLATINA (Red de Enfermedad de Kawasaki en América Latina), a 20-nation multicenter multispecialties research network studying Kawasaki Disease and MIS-C in Latin American children.
