Dr Pierre Sicard (male), PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry, is working on air pollution and climate change impacts on forests ecosystems to reduce the risk for plant ecosystems, by using integrated assessment modelling; deposition model; epidemiological studies; and statistical and multivariate analysis. He is involved in numerous national and EU-funded projects as coordinator (e.g., AIRFRESH, FO3REST, PHC SIAM 2024) or Principal Investigator and steering committee (e.g., MOTTLES, bilateral program Gilibert 2021). He has also experience in assessment of air pollution impacts on human health (AirQ model) and developed an Aggregate Risk Index.
He is very active in communication: Deputy Coordinator of the RG 8.04.00 “Air Pollution and Climate Change” under the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO); involved as Expert on Clean Air in Cities (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) and active in the EU Clean Air Forum; member of the European Forum on Urban Forestry; Associate Editor of journals (Environmental Research; Urban Forestry and Urban Greening); h-index of 44, >110 papers, conferences > 100 as keynote speaker, chairman and member of scientific committees, and has organized 7 international conferences.
In 2017, he gave a talk during the United Nations Forum on Forests in the United Nations headquarters in New-York and many lectures about the air pollution and protection of vegetation, for instance at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and the Forest Research Institute in Bucharest (Romania).
In November 2023, he obtained the Diploma of Excellence in recognition of his contribution for strengthening the excellence and performance of the National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry “Marin Dracea” (Romania).
