Philippe Aghion

Philippe Aghion is a professor at the INSEAD and Paris School of Economics, holder of the "Institutions, Innovation, and Growth" Chair at the Collège de France, and Centennial Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. He is also a member of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Science. He mainly works on the theory of growth and innovation economics. He is particularly famous for having developped with Peter Howitt the Schumpeterian theory of economic growth, and expanding this approach from macroeconomics to other areas of the discipline, such as labour. In 2001, Philippe Aghion was the laureate of the Yrjo Jahnsson Prize for the best European economist under 45. He also received the John Von Neumann Prize in 2009, as well as the« Global Entrepreneurship Award » in 2016. He also received the Sun Yefang Award in 2017, the Frontier of Knowledge Award from BBVA in 2020 and the Erasmus Award in 2022.
