My research and expertise concentrate on the integrated study of archaeopedology, soil genesis, paleopedology, and soil micromorphology, with a specific emphasis on former and recent periglacial environments. A central focus is the investigation of soil forming processes and landscape evolution, coupled with the reconstruction of pedosedimentary systems and ancient land use, i.e. archaeopedology. Another central element involves utilizing (palaeo)pedogenic and geochemical data as proxies to infer palaeoclimatic conditions, integrating these findings with microenvironmental soil analyses. Fieldwork spans diverse geographic regions, including Europe, China, Chile, Yemen, Oman, as well as extreme environments such as Antarctica and Greenland. My research is deeply collaborative, involving the integration of expertise from various disciplines such as geosciences, biology, archaeology, and social sciences. This approach allows for the synthesis of diverse perspectives and methodologies, fostering a holistic understanding of complex research questions.
