简介

Nicholas A. Kotov pioneered the engineering of complex biomimetic nanomaterials, including chiral nanostructures and graphite oxide nanocomposites. He demonstrated that the ability to self-assemble is a universal property of nanoparticles, including ones with high polydispersity. Furthermore, he demonstrated that 'imperfect' nanoparticles can self-assemble into hierarchical materials with structural complexity comparable to or exceeding their biological prototypes. Their technological utilization and graph theoretical (GT) representations are the focal points of his current work. Nicholas founded several start-ups commercializing complex self-assembled nanocomposites and chiral nanoparticles for sustainability and health technologies. Nicholas Kotov is a recipient of over 60 national and international awards, including the 2024 Centenary Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry, the 2024 Chirality Medal, and the Newton Award (Department of Defense). Nicholas Kotov is a Fellow of the American Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Inventors, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
