Dr. Muhammad Akram is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Eastern Medicine with extensive experience in teaching, administration, and clinical practice. He currently serves as Associate Professor and has previously held key leadership positions including Ex-Chairperson of the Department of Eastern Medicine at Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Ex-Chairman at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He is also the Coordinator for M.Phil (PhytoMedicine) and PhD programs, contributing significantly to postgraduate research development in herbal and traditional medicine. Dr. Akram earned his Ph.D. in Eastern Medicine from Hamdard University Karachi, where he achieved the highest marks in his batch. He also completed his M.Phil with first position and his BEMS with consistent top academic distinctions. His research expertise includes hyperuricemia, xanthine oxidase inhibition by medicinal plants, phytochemistry, enzyme inhibition, toxicological studies of poisonous plants, and clinical evaluation of herbal formulations. He has strong hands-on experience with modern laboratory instruments and clinical protocols, bridging traditional medicine with modern scientific approaches. He has contributed to curriculum development, including initiation of M.Phil programs, and actively promotes research in phytotherapy and pharmacognosy. His work reflects a strong commitment to advancing Eastern Medicine through evidence-based research, innovation, and academic leadership for improved healthcare outcomes.
