托克马科娃·玛丽亚

Prof. Mariya Tokmakova was born in Plovdiv. She graduated English Language school in 1989 and Medical University - Plovdiv in 1995. She started her PhD at the Section of Cardiology, 1st Department of Internal Medicine at Medical University -Plovdiv in 1996. In 2000 she was an assistant to the same section, and in 2004 she was promoted to senior assistant. She has acquired internal medicine specialty in 2000 and cardiology in 2003, as well as educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in 2000 and the scientific title "Associate Professor" in Cardiology in 2008 and "Professor" in 2022. Since March 2008 till now she is head of department at the Cardiology Clinic of the University Hospital "St. Georgi“ – Plovdiv. In addition she is part of the Academic Staff of the Department of Cardiology at the First Department of Internal Medicine of Medical University – Plovdiv. In 2011 she has graduated with a master's degree in "health management" from MU-Plovdiv. Prof. Tokmakova has specialized abroad, including: European Practicum on Clinical Exercise Testing, Balatonfured, Hungary; specialization in Cardiology Clinic, Hopital Beaujon, Clichy, France, as a scholarship holder of the European Society of Cardiology; one-year research fellowship in cardiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, 2 year post-graduate course in CHF University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, Certificate of advanced studies UZH in Heart Failure, European Heart Academy, Heart Failure Association and others. Prof. Tokmakova is Past President (mandate 2018-2020) of the Bulgarian Society of cardiology and is a board member of HFA of ESC (mandate 2022-2024), fellow of ESC and ACC.
