My expertise is on soil microbiology and on N2-fixing symbiosis with legumes. At Embrapa Soja there are few microbiologists and a high a demand for both basic and applied research, therefore today I am coordinating and participating in projects of: biodiversity of diazotrophic bacteria; culture collections; identification of bioindicators of soil quality; genomics and proteomics of bacteria with an emphasis on diazotrophic bacteria; applied technologies of inoculation; inoculant production; strain selection; molecular markers in plants identification; ecology of indigenous and naturalized rhizobial populations; biosafety of transgenic plants.
