I am a senior researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). I had been co-Director of the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) in Barcelona, Spain that was one of the founding centers of ISGlobal in July 2016. ISGlobal is an internationally known research center in environmental health. My research focuses in the evaluation of environmental and occupational exposures and their interaction with genetic factors in relation to cancer, respiratory diseases and child health. In recent years I have focused my research on the effects of circadian disruption conducting large case-control studies and also studies in molecular epidemiology on night shift work, light-at-night and cancer. The creation of the new center on global health has opened new possibilities of work on environment and health in Low Medium Income countries. I have a demonstrated record of accomplished and productive research projects that have been of high relevance internationally. I am committed to public health and in recent years have been active particularly in Europe for promotion of research and training in environmental epidemiology and in translation of research findings into policy.
