Mykhailo Viktorovych Vasnetsov, Born in 1956, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Optical Quantum Electronics at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1973, he graduated from secondary school No. 145 in Kyiv. In 1979, received a diploma with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a degree in optics and spectroscopy. Since 1979, M. Vasnetsov has been working in the Department of Optical Quantum Electronics of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and since 2020, he has been the head of the department. In 1986, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences on the topic "Diffraction of Light on Volume Phase Gratings." In 2006, he received the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences for his work on the physical foundations of singular optics. In 2000, he became a laureate of the Prize named after outstanding scientists of Ukraine, the A. Prykhodko Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for outstanding works in the fields of laser physics, optics, and crystallography. Areas of scientific interest are related to optics and laser physics, in particular: - research of phase defects in wave fields by so-called optical vortices, which led to the emergence of singular optics - a new section of modern physical optics (State Prize of Ukraine for 2020); - study of topological defects in oriented liquid crystals; - study of luminescent properties of synthetic opal, polymer, and amorphous materials; - theoretical analysis of light scattering on small objects; - speckle interferometry, which is the basis of modern medical tissue diagnostics. Received a grant from the Soros Foundation and the State Scientific Research Fund of Ukraine. Scientific experience - 45 years. Total number of patents -2. Under the supervision of M.V. Vasnetsov, 6 candidate theses and one "Doctor of Philosophy" were completed and successfully defended. For the cycle of works “Discovery and research of new phenomena for light beams with wavefront singularities” by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 608/2020 dated December 30, 2020 “On the awarding of the State Prizes of Ukraine in the field of science and technology 2020, Vasnetsov M.V. as a member of the author team was declared the laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology 2020.
