Luca Gianaroli

Dr. Luca Gianaroli has been a specialist in the field of Reproductive Medicine since the late Seventies. At present, he holds the position of Scientific Director of the International Institute of Reproductive Medicine based in Lugano and of IIRM in Bologna. Previously he was the founder and Scientific Director of S.I.S.Me.R. (Italian Society for the Study of Reproductive Medicine). He has covered, and currently covers, roles of primary importance in several national and international scientific societies, for some of which he also has served as Chairman. Before being appointed as Chairman of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) for the period 2009-2011 he has been involved within this same society as coordinator of the Special Interest Group in Embryology and of the Training Sub-committee, and was founder and coordinator of the Special Interest Group in Stem Cells. General Secretary of the ESHRE 2000 meeting held in Bologna, he was member of the European IVF Monitoring Programme and of several International Scientific Committees. He is author or co-author of more than 350 papers in international scientific journals, and publisher and co-publisher of 9 books.
