Dr. Yuwen Zhang is a Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department at the University of Missouri (MU), and he served as MAE department chair from 2013 to 2017. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research (ONR; 2002), the MU Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity (2010), and the Senior Faculty Research Award from MU College of Engineering (2010). He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE), and an associate fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has developed multiscale multi-physics models for laser-based nanomanufacturing, high-energy lasers, and thermal management for electronics and energy systems. He has authored more than 500 technical publications, including over 300 archival journal papers, and published seven books. . He served as an associate editor for ASME Journal of Heat Transfer.
