Kenneth M. Yamada

Kenneth Yamada received BA, MD, and PhD degrees from Stanford University. After serving as a section chief in the National Cancer Institute for 10 years, he has been a section or laboratory chief at the NIDCR, NIH since 1990. He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1991. He received the first Senior Investigator Award of the American Society for Matrix Biology in 2004, and in 2008 he received the Distinguished Scientist Award of the American Association for Dental Research. He was promoted to NIH Distinguished Investigator in 2011, and received the Outstanding NIDCR Career Research Award from the FNIDCR in 2012. He was recognized with Lifetime Fellow Recognition from the American Society for Cell Biology in 2017 and received the inaugural BSMB Medal from the British Society for Matrix Biology. Dr. Yamada is an Editor of the Journal of Cell Biology and serves as an associate editor or board member of a number of other journals including Journal of Cellular Physiology and Journal of Cell Science. He has published more than 400 papers and reviews.
