简介

I attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine. I completed psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia and the NIMH. My primary focus is fMRI in schizophrenia, with particular focus on working memory, heritable fMRI phenotypes, and genes associated with either schizophrenia or general cognitive function. I head the Genetic Imaging Group within the Clinical and Translational Neuroscience Branch of the NIMH. Key findings from my work include the description of prefrontal inefficiency in working memory for schizophrenic patients, initial demonstration of the heritability of prefrontal efficiency (as measured by fMRI), imaging genetics findings via candidate gene and genome-wide association, and demonstrations of genetic epistasis with GxE interaction.
