João Paulo Souza

Joao Paulo Souza is a public health specialist and physician dedicated to research and dissemination of health promotion practices. Earlier in his career, he devoted himself to intensive care medicine and combating maternal mortality. Joao Paulo published over 250 scientific articles throughout his career and achieved a full professorship in Social Medicine at the University of São Paulo in 2015. JP Souza has worked in various capacities and positions at the WHO since 2008. In 2022, he became the director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (BIREME).
