Date and place of birth: August 24, 1971 in Herslev, Vejle amt, Denmark.
Son of Peter Uldall Fynbo (farmer, b. 1912, d.1991) and
Agnethe Bach Fynbo (primary school teacher, b. 1928, d. 2022).
Family: Married to Charlotte Harkjær Fynbo May 17, 2003. Children: Clara Kirstine Fynbo, born May 28, 2006. Rasmus Peter Fynbo, born January 19, 2009. Paternal leave: Jan 7 - Mar 31 2007 and Sep 14 - Dec 12 2009.

2000: Ph.D. degree in natural science (astrophysics), Aarhus University, Denmark. One year of my graduate study was carried out at ESO, Garching, Germany under a studentship contract. 3 months were spent at the Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore, US.

2002 - 2004: Assistant professor, IFA, University of Aarhus (formally employed at Copenhagen University), Denmark on the Carlsberg- funded project “Danish use of the VLT”
2004 - 2011: Associate professor, NBI, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
2005 - 2015: Member of the Dark Cosmology Centre. I was responsible for the “dark age” theme at the centre including the use of GRBs as probes of star-formation at high redshifts.
