J.M.F. Ferreira

José M.F. Ferreira (born 1951) is is Associate Professor with habilitation at the Department of Materials and Ceramics Engineering at University of Aveiro, CICECO. The main research interests include the synthesis and processing of advanced materials, with special emphasis on synthetic bone repair materials (bone cements, porous scaffolds, granular bone filing materials based on CaP, glass-ceramics, structural bioceramics and composites) and tissue engineering. Throughout his scientific career, he has supervised 36 Master and 24 PhD students, who already fedended their theses, 16 Post-graduation researchers, 28 post-docs, and 5 senior researchers, registered 16 patents, published 6 book Chapters and more than 520 articles in SCI journals, including 2 Feature Articles. He got ca. 12,000 citations (h-index 52), and delivered over 80 invited talks, including Key Note Leactures and Plenary Lectures at conferences (mostly international). He has coordinated over two dozens projects (3 European), and was team member of other 9 national projects, some involvind direct contracts with industry. José M.F. Ferreira is recipient of several awards, including the ‘Stimulus to Excellence – 2005 award’ from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technoly (FCT); the ‘Chinese Ceramic Society – 2005’ award; and is the unique Portuguese who was awarded with the Membership of the World Academy of Ceramics (www.waceramics.org) since July 2013; and with the title of Fellow of the European Ceramic Society (ECerS) in recognition of the achievements and contributions to the field of Ceramics, June 24th, 2015, Toledo, Spain.
