Jordi Duarte-Campderros is a researcher at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA, CSIC–Universidad de Cantabria), working at the interface between particle physics instrumentation, detector characterization, data acquisition, Monte Carlo simulation and rare-event searches.
His research focuses on the development, validation and operation of semiconductor radiation detectors for high-energy physics, dark-matter searches and medical-physics applications. His work includes silicon sensors, LGADs, 3D detectors, skipper CCDs, SiC devices, timing detectors and associated readout and data-acquisition systems. He is involved in detector R&D activities spanning laboratory characterization, laser-based techniques, test-beam measurements, reconstruction software, firmware/software integration and physics analysis.
His broader scientific interests include precision detector calibration, charge transport in semiconductor sensors, fast timing, low-noise readout, rare-event backgrounds, radiation shielding, proton-therapy instrumentation and the translation of particle-physics detector technologies to interdisciplinary applications. He is also involved in supervision, training and collaborative software development, with an emphasis on reproducible analysis, open tools and robust experimental validation.
