Prof. Irshad Hussain is an internationally recognized scientist in nanoscience and materials chemistry, with over two decades of pioneering contributions to functional nanomaterials for catalysis, renewable energy, environmental remediation, and biomedical applications. He is Professor of Chemistry at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where he served as the Founding Chair of the Department of Chemistry and played a leading role in establishing one of Pakistan’s foremost teaching/research programs in Chemistry and nanoscience and nanotechnology. He currently leads the Functional Nanomaterials Group at LUMS and is Founding Director of Pakistan’s National Center for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology. Prof. Hussain received his PhD from the University of Liverpool, UK, and has authored over 185 publications with an h-index 56 and more than 12,700 citations. He holds distinguished international academic appointments, including the Tang Au-Chin Chair Professorship at Jilin University, Advisory Professorship at Huazhong University of Science & Technology, and Specially Appointed Professorship at the Shandong Academy of Sciences. He has provided sustained national leadership in science policy, chairing Pakistan’s key national nanotechnology expert panels and currently leading the National Experts Panel on Nanotechnology under the Government’s Science, Technology & Engineering for Development (STED) initiative. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and the International Engineering and Technology Institute, and his honors include two Gold Medals from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, the Charles Wallace Fellowship at Cambridge, and the PIFI Distinguished Scientist Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
