Dr. Iqbal H. Sarker received his PhD in Computer Science from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, in 2018. He is currently a Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia. Prior to this, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) in association with ECU, as part of an academia–industry collaboration involving CSIRO Data61. He is also an Adjunct fellow at DigiSAS Lab, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, and Institute of Computer Science and Digital Innovation, UCSI University, Malaysia.
Dr. Sarker’s research focuses on AI & Data-Driven technologies to advance Cybersecurity applications, Business Analytics & SME Transformation. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and conferences published by renowned publishers such as Nature, Elsevier, Springer, IEEE and ACM. Moreover, he is a LEAD author of two research monograph BOOKs titled "Context-Aware Machine Learning and Mobile Data Analytics”, Springer Nature, Switzerland, and “AI-Driven Cybersecurity and Threat Intelligence”, Springer Nature, Switzerland. Dr. Sarker has also been recognized by ScholarGPS and listed among the world's top 2% most-cited scientists, published by Elsevier and Stanford University, USA.
In addition, Dr. Sarker has extensive teaching experience in UG/PG courses (Australia & Overseas) including AI/Machine Learning, Data Analytics, System Analysis and Database Design, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Digital Business Transformation, Programming Fundamentals, and Applied Project. He is actively involved in research leadership and engagement roles, including journal editorial boards, international conference program committees, PG student supervision, visiting scholar, and academia-industry collaborations. He is also engaged with the Industry Mentoring Network in STEM (IMNIS) program and collaborates closely with industry partners across Australia. Dr. Sarker is a member of ACM, IEEE, and the Australian Information Security Association (AISA).
