External Grant Funding:

Australian Research Council “Special Investigator Award a by-invitation-only grant that funded funding his entire research program for five years. The Special Investigator award aimed to recognize highly-rated investigators with an exceptional track record in research productivity and a consistent history of attracting ARC large grant support, with excellent ratings through their careers. By providing researchers with the freedom of a one-line large grant, of the order of at least twice the average grant size for the discipline, it gave researchers the chance to undertake over five years a flexible program of innovative research activities that would not normally be possible through individual grants, and
UK's Economic and Social Research Council highly competitive Professorial Fellowship awarded to only a few social scientists across the UK. This overarching grant funded a research program entitled Value Adding In Diverse Educational Contexts: Substantive-Methodological Synergies That Address Complex Issues With Sophisticated Methodology
Substantive-Methodological Synergy:
He coined the phrase substantive-methodological research synergy, which underpins his research efforts in different psychology subdisciplines (educational, social, quantitative, developmental psychology). In addition to his methodological focus on structural equation models, factor analysis, multilevel modeling, and psychological measurement, his major substantive interests include self-concept and motivational constructs; evaluations of teaching/educational effectiveness; school/classroom compositional effects; the peer review process; gender differences; peer support, and anti-bullying interventions.
