简介

Prof. Huseyin Ozan Tekin, born on January 2, 1987, in Turkey, is a Nuclear Physicist, holding the title of Full Professor at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. A Turkish national, Prof. Tekin has established a formidable reputation as a leading scientist in his field. He earned his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Physics and Nuclear Physics from Süleyman Demirel University in Turkey between 2005 and 2014, with significant thesis work conducted at Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf (HZDR) in Germany. His doctoral thesis focused on the development of detector parameters for the Turkish Accelerator Center - TARLA Bremsstrahlung Photon Facility. Prof. Tekin's career spans over a decade of academic and research leadership. He began as a lecturer in 2009 and quickly rose through the ranks at various Turkish institutions, including Uskudar University, where he served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and later Dean of the College of Health Services. Since 2020, Prof. Tekin has been affiliated with the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where he was promoted to Full Professor in 2023. In addition to his academic role, he serves as the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Graduate Studies at the College of Health Sciences. Prof. Tekin has a broad range of scientific interests, including Monte Carlo simulations, nuclear physics, medical imaging, computed tomography, radiological protection, and nanomaterials. His research focuses on the development of advanced materials for radiation protection, such as heavy metal oxide glasses and nano-concretes, which have applications in both medical and industrial settings. His expertise in simulation codes such as MCNP, GEANT4, and EGSnrc underpins his contributions to optimizing radiation shielding materials. Throughout his career, Prof. Tekin has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Prof. Dr. Şevket ERK Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Physical Society in 2018. He has also been consistently ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in standardized citation indicators, according to studies by Stanford University and other organizations. In 2022, he received the Rising Star of Science Award and was recognized among the top 10 material scientists in the United Arab Emirates. Prof. Tekin's scholarly output includes nearly 400 research papers in high-impact journals, many of which explore the properties of novel radiation shielding materials. His work has practical implications for improving safety in medical radiography and industrial radiation environments. His most recent projects include collaborative research with Canon and the University of Sharjah, focusing on wearable glasses equipment for radiation protection in medical facilities. An active member of several international organizations, Prof. Tekin is the Chairman of the Science and Education Council of the Turkish Medical Radiotechnology Association. He is also a prolific speaker, having presented his research at numerous international conferences and symposia. In addition to his academic and research pursuits, Prof. Tekin holds several honorary adjunct professorships. His work has had a lasting impact on both academic and industrial practices related to radiation safety, nuclear shielding, and medical imaging technologies.
