简介

I am an epidemiologist with a background in Medicine (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, 2001), a Master’s degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Epidemiology (School of Public Health of Mexico [ESPM], 2003), and a Doctorate in Sciences with a concentration in Epidemiology (ESPM, 2008, with Honors). I currently serve as Head of the Department of Perinatal Health at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), and as a Senior Medical Sciences Researcher (Category F) at the Ministry of Health. My work focuses on epidemiological analysis and impact evaluation of public health programs. I apply advanced tools in biostatistics and data analysis to address issues in maternal and perinatal health, burden of disease, and environmental epidemiology. Over the course of my career, I have supervised or advised 47 postgraduate students, including 11 doctoral candidates. I have authored over 100 scientific articles and led 9 funded research projects, 5 of them internationally supported. I have collaborated with international institutions such as the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where I was a visiting researcher, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I served as a consultant for MEASURE Evaluation (2011–2015), conducting workshops in South Africa, India, and Nepal. Since 2015, I have contributed to the Global Burden of Disease Study led by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), reaching the rank of Senior Collaborator in 2024. In 2022, I was invited to become a full member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. In 2025 I was accepted as a regular Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. I served as an Academic Editor for the scientific journal PLOS ONE from 2022 to 2025 and from January 2026 I serve as Associate Editor in the journal Pediatric Research. My professional goals are to generate robust evidence to inform and improve health policy and to contribute to the training of the next generation of researchers. To this end, I employ advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, and epidemiological analysis techniques.
