Guoliang Zhang

Dr. Guoliang Zhang is distinguished professor at Zhejiang University of Technology, and works as Dean of Center for Membrane and Water Science & Technology and Director of Institute of Oceanic and Environmental Chemical Engineering. He received his Master Degree in Biochemical Engineering from Tianjin University in 1991 and Ph.D. Degree in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Zhejiang University in 2007. After 14 years practical experience as Senior Engineer of Professorship and Director of Department of Technology at 2nd Institute of Oceanography and Research & Development Center of Water Treatment Technology of State Oceanic Administration (SOA), he moved to Zhejiang University of Technology as a full professor in 2004. He joined Prof. Dr. E. L. Cussler’s group and worked as research associate (ACS) at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities from 2000-2002. He also worked as a visiting scholar (DAAD) at University of Leipzig (DAAD) in 2007. He has published 200 refereed journal papers in Nat. Commun., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Funct. Matr., Small, Chem.Commun., J.Memb.Sci., AIChE J. etc., edited eight books and 81 issued patents with several of which have been commercialized. Prof. Zhang earned the State Science & Technology Award of Oceanography (1991), Taishan Scholarship (2013), Minjiang Scholarship (2014) and Tongjiang Scholarship (2021). He serves as consultant for major industrial companies including Gree, Xinyuan, Motian and Juhua, and as boards of Managing Committee Member of IWA Working Group on Alternative Water Resources and National Education Advisory Group on Environmental Engineering. He also serves as the editorial board member of Advanced Membranes and Recent Patents on Engineering.
