Glenda M. Halliday

I am a career neuroscientist and research neuropathologist specialising in neurodegeneration and have been a Research Fellow of the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia (NHMRC) since 1990. I received my degrees at the University of New South Wales, postdoctoral training at Flinders University prior to an Australian Research Council Queen Elizabeth II Fellow in 1988 and then NHMRC research fellowships since. I was appointed Professor of Medicine (2003) then of Neuroscience (2008), then NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow (2010) at the University of New South Wales, and now at the University of Sydney until 2023. I lead a research program of ~100 researchers tackling non-Alzheimer's neurodegeneration that stems from my work on frontotemporal and motor neurodegenerative syndromes, and Parkinson’s disease. I have published >400 research papers and 2 books, and attracted >$50m in grant funding. 
I am on the editorial boards of 7 international journals, on a number of Scientific Advisory Boards, and am a committee member for a number of international organizations. I was elected president of the Australian Neuroscience Society (ANS 2006-2007), awarded the 2011 Nina Kondelos Prize for outstanding neuroscience from ANS, the 2014 NHMRC Elizabeth Blackburn Fellowship (Clinical), the 2016 Cozzarelli Prize for the most outstanding paper from the National Academy of Science, USA, and the 2017 C. David Marsden Lecture Award from the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society. I am named as an NHMRC high achiever (2013, http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/high-achievers/biographies), a highly cited researcher (2018, https://hcr.clarivate.com/#freeText%3DHalliday) and am a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
