My research has made substantial contributions to advancing evidence synthesis methodology, particularly within a Bayesian framework, to address complex clinical and public health questions. I have led pioneering work in network meta-analysis (NMA), developing innovative models to synthesize heterogeneous, rare, or correlated data, while also improving methods for ranking treatments and predicting their real-world effects. I spearheaded the development of CINeMA and RoB-MEN—widely adopted tools for assessing the credibility of evidence synthesis and the risk of reporting bias—and contributed key chapters to authoritative reference texts, including the Cochrane Handbook and Systematic Reviews in Health Care.
Over the past five years, my scientific activities have resulted in 78 peer-reviewed research articles (excluding replies and protocols), which have significantly advanced both the methodology and application of evidence synthesis. In recognition of the impact of my work, I have been consistently included in Clarivate Analytics’ list of “Highly Cited Researchers” every year since 2018.
Working at the intersection of multiple disciplines, I routinely lead diverse teams comprising experts in biomedicine, clinical research, mathematics, computer science, and epidemiology. One of my current major initiatives is GALENOS (https://www.galenos.org.uk/), a project that aims to develop a dynamic, living evidence resource of early-phase studies in humans and animals to guide research prioritization in mental health. As the methodological lead of GALENOS, I coordinate a global, multidisciplinary team of over 20 researchers and collaborate closely with the Global Experiential Advisory Board of patients. A short video explaining my work in this innovative project can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZWHAYEj3BI.
In addition to my research, I am deeply committed to teaching and mentoring, with a strong emphasis on supporting early-career women scientists. This commitment reflects my broader dedication to promoting equity, inclusion, and excellence in academic research.
