Dr Bull leads the technical unit focused on promotion of physical activity at WHO Headquarters. She leads a team which develops global policy and technical resources on physical activity to support all countries implement evidence based approaches. Dr Bull led the development of the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030: More active people for a healthier world, the WHO 2020 Global guidelines on physical activity and sedentary behaviour; the 1st WHO Global Status Report on Physical Activity in 2022 and updating global levels of physical activity in 2024. Dr Bull and her team undertake advocacy and provide technical support to countries to support policy actions to increase participation in physical activity through active transport, sport and every-day activities. Prior to WHO, Dr Bull had 20+ years in academia and was Director of the Center for the Built Environment Health Professor 2011-2017 and Director of the National Centre for Physical Activity in the UK from 2004-2012. Her work has spanned Australia, the U.K. and for three years at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the USA.
