Emilio Perucca

Emilio Perucca trained as a clinical pharmacologist and as a neurologist in London, UK. He spent much of his career at the University of Pavia, Italy and moved recently to Melbourne, Australia. He is currently Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine (Austin Health), at the University of Melbourne, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Neuroscience, Monash University, Melbourne. Dr. Perucca served as President of the International League against Epilepsy (ILAE) for the 2013-2017 term. He received the ILAE-IBE Ambassador for Epilepsy Award in 1997, the European Epileptology Award in 2018, and the Lifetime Accelerator Award from the U.S. Epilepsy Foundation in 2021. His academic interests focus on the pharmacological treatment of seizure disorders, clinical trial methodology and outcome assessment in epilepsy. He published over 500 Pubmed-listed articles and several books on these topics.
