I am a senior public health researcher at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS). Additionally, I serve as a Senior Collaborator on the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington (USA). I have managed several research projects funded by reputable international institutions, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), UNICEF, WHO, USAID, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and Pfizer, at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC) in Ghana. Some of the studies I worked on included malaria epidemiology, morbidity, efficacy, child survival, and vaccine and drug trials. At APHRC, I have led the implementation of several environmental health and nutrition-related projects. I have extensive research experience in Ghana and Kenya (having risen through the various ranks of the research ladder to my current status). I also have expertise in using secondary data to research maternal and child nutrition, obesity, infectious/non-communicable diseases and several health issues across the African continent. Over the past decade, my research has primarily focused on maternal and child health, nutrition epidemiology, dietary diversity, childcare, malnutrition (both undernutrition and overnutrition), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), maternal and childhood anaemia, the burden and risk factors of diseases globally, and childhood diseases, among other areas. I have published extensively (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=QRgVaZoAAAAJ&hl=en) in these research areas in high-impact journals, including The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, Nature Medicine, The Lancet Global Health, Public Health Nutrition, Nature Communications, and BMJ Open, among others. Several others are being considered for publication in reputable international peer-reviewed Journals. I serve as editor for the following Journals: PLOS Global Public Health, Frontiers in Public Health, Frontiers in Psychology, Academia Medicine, Frontiers in Medicine, Archives of Public Health, International Journal for Equity in Health, BMC Public Health, and BMC Global and Public Health. I have been a peer reviewer for several reputable international peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet Global Health, The Lancet Regional Health-Europe, BMJ, and PLOS Journals. I also served as an examiner for PhD and master's theses. I have, in three consecutive years (2023, 2024 & 2025), ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.
I was also named an agenda contributor at the World Economic Forum for my research.
