Prof. Dr. Eder Claudio Lima was a laureate student during his graduation course in 1991 at the Paulista State University (UNESP). Nowadays, he is a Full Professor at the Institute of Chemistry, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, and has supervised several Ph. D students from different countries under the TWAS-CNPq fellowship program. He has over 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications in SCI journals with an H-index of 72 by Clarivate Analytics and 76 by Scopus, and his publications have been cited more than 16,600 times according to Scopus and more than 17,100 citations according to Web of Science. He also has been a member of the editorial board of Analytica Chimica Acta from October 2007 to July 2022. Prof. Lima was Editor of Special Issues of the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering from April 2018 to August 2019, and he was also Editor of the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering from October 2012 to April 2018; he was editor of the Journal of Hazardous Materials (Elsevier) from April of 2018 to October 2018. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Hazardous Materials from 01/2007 to 04/2018, and he returned to being a member of the Journal of Hazardous Materials in April 2021. Prof. Lima was an editor of Microporous and Mesoporous Materials (Elsevier) from November 2020 to December 2023. Professor Lima was a Highly Cited Researcher in Crossfield Field (Web of Science) in 2022 and 2023. He is a Distinguished Scientist Fellow from King of Saud University (https://faculty.ksu.edu.sa/en/ederlima) He has been working on the removal of toxic compounds from aqueous effluents using various kinds of adsorbents. His research group is now broadly focused on the use of biomass, in natural and/or chemically modified forms, for the removal of toxic species from industrial effluents, and also on the development of new adsorbent materials such as organo-functionalized silica and silicates, celluloses, and carbon nanotubes, as well as the production of new activated carbons derived from renewable sources. His projects have been traditionally centered on adsorption mechanisms based on different analytical techniques such as FTIR, TGA, SEM, and XRD. Also, his research involves computational simulation for the elucidation of the adsorption mechanism. The kinetics of adsorption is also being studied based on the new kinetic adsorption models that were recently published. Prof. Eder Lima has been revising manuscripts for 190 journals. He has emitted more than 1400 (one thousand and four hundred) reviews since December 2003. Dr. Lima has received more than 30 certificates of Outstanding Reviewer, Excellence in Review, Top Reviewer of Elsevier, and American Chemical Society from these reviewers. He was classified as 2% of the most influential researcher in the world considering his career, and he was classified as 2% of the most influential researcher in the world in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.
