David E McClelland FAA received his PhD degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1987. He was awarded a Beverly Research Fellowship before being appointed in 1988 to The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, as a Lecturer. He is now a Distinguished Professor of Physics and Director of the Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics, a joint research facility of the Research Schools of Physics, and Astronomy & Astrophysics. He is Deputy Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Gravitational wave Discovery. He was a recipient of the 2020 Australian Prime Minister's Prize for Science.
