Brijesh K. Tiwari

Prof Brijesh Tiwari is currently a Principal Research Officer within the Department of Food Chemistry and Technology at Teagasc Food Research Centre, Ireland. Prof Tiwari received his MSc in Food Technology from the Central Food Technological Research Institute, India and PhD in Food Engineering from the University College Dublin, Ireland. Before starting PhD, he was employed as a Research Scientist at the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT, India) where his primary research focus was on developing grain processing technologies. In this role, he worked closely with the pulse grain processing industry. Subsequently during his PhD studies he secured a lecturing position in University College Dublin and later moved to Manchester, as a Senior lecturer of Food Engineering at the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). His primary research interests relate to novel food processing, extraction and preservation technologies, with a strong focus on investigation of biochemical and microbial kinetics in food and food products. A particular focus of his current research relates to the investigation of green and sustainable solutions to food industry challenges novel extraction technologies to extraction of biomolecules from food by-products and waste streams. Dr. Tiwari’ scientific outputs include over 100 peer-reviewed papers, 45 conference papers and 35 book chapters. He also has co-edited 7 books in the areas of food processing and preservation technologies. Dr. Tiwari is a fellow of Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST, UK) and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC, UK).
