I am a physician-epidemiologist (MD, MPH, PhD), trained at Tec of Monterrey (MD) and the University of Texas at Houston (MPH, PhD). After my training I moved to the University of Hawaii where I am a full Professor at the School of Medicine and have worked there for over 30 years. I have had an active career in research with many funded grants during my tenure and more than 280 peer reviewed publications. My primary focus has been cardiovascular and diabetes research. Over the last 10 years I have become very involved in teaching medical students and masters and PhD students in clinical research. It is impossible for me to include in ORCHID all my grants, positions, etc given my extensive career. See my publications below. Please request my CV for more information.
