Avula Laxmaiah

I have an academic background in Medicine and Public health, and PhD in Public Health Nutrition, with hands on professional experience in Public Health Nutrition in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). Conducted many training, capacity building, dissemination programmes in the field of Health and nutrition. I have 3 decades of experience in carrying out large scale epidemiological, operational and impact evaluation research projects in health and nutrition areas. As a senior faculty of Post graduate education, I used to teach regularly/deliver talks on Global under-nutrition scenario, Diabetes, Hypertension, micro-nutrient malnutrition. During 3 decades of service at ICMR-NIN-Hyd, I have successfully conducted more than 50 studies and published more than 150 papers in the peer reviewed National & International journals. I am the subject expert member in several central and state ministries like DST, HRD (MDM), WCD-ICDS, NDMA, MoHFW, Govt. of India as well at state level. I have received many Awards and honours from National and International organizations for the recognition of my research and teaching work. Published many book chapters in the Text Books of Public Health and Nutrition.
