- Study of 1,4- and 1,6 conjugate additions of α,β,ɣ,δ-unsaturated systems

- Synthesis, transformation and structural characterization of several oxygen (e.g. flavones, 2-styrylchromones and xanthones) and nitrogen (e.g. pyrazolines, triazoles, pyrazoles, indazoles, quinolones, quinolones and acridones)
- Natural products, including chemical characterization of vegetal species and isolation of polyphenolic compounds
- Synthesis of novel boactive polyphenolic compounds
- Use of 1D and 2D NMR techniques in the structural characterization of various types of compounds, including polyphenols, pyrazoles, pyrimidines, tetrapyrrolic macrocycles, polymeric carbohydrates and organometallics
