Alfredo Criollo

Dr. Criollo Biochemist of the University of Chile. He did his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at University of Paris XI (FR) and its thesis was focused in the molecular mechanisms that control autophagy and its role in cancer. Additionally, Dr. Criollo did a second PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Chile with a thesis focused on the role of the inositol trisphosphate receptor and its involvement in autophagy regulation. His outstanding scientific productivity during his PhD in France allow him to win the Grand Prix of the Chancellery of the Universities of Paris, which recognized his thesis as the best of his year in the field of Biomedicine. Dr. Criollo did his post-doctoral training in the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas-TX, USA. Currently, Dr. Criollo is Associated Professor at the Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de Chile and his research, focused in the study of autophagy mechanisms, primary cilia and metabolism are supported by national and international funds. Dr. Criollo has an outstanding record of publication with more than 88 ISI papers in top biomedical journals such as EMBO J, Science, Nat Cell Biol, Cell Rep, Nat Med, Autophagy, Cell, J Cell Biol, Circulation, and others. All these papers have been cited 33805 times and he has an important H-index of 53 (Google Scholar). Dr. Criollo has organized international meetings where renowned international scientist in the field of chronical diseases have been invited. Furthermore, he actively participates giving lessons in different PhD programs of the University of Chile, such as Biomedical Science and Dentistry Science and Biochemistry.
